The shoulder has the largest range of motion and is the most free moving joint allowing you to stretch, reach, and perform simple tasks such as waving hello to a friend, moving your mouse at your desk, or brushing your hair. The shoulder is composed of the following three bones:

Shoulder Blade (Scapula)

Collar Bone (Clavicle)

Upper Arm Bone (Humerus)

With two joints, the glenohumeral and acromiclavicular, the shoulder is known as the most unstable joint. It can move in multiple directions and allows you to apply force or pressure to it, which is why the shoulder is more prone to injury than any other joint in the human body. Common types of shoulder injuries can result from the activities listed below:

• Swimming
• Repetitive throwing
• Weightlifting
• Occupation (construction, athletes, child care providers)
